AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, June 14 (TIWN): National media’s focus is right now in the Northeast, where Assam Police and Tripura Police both have arrested BJP IT cell members centering allegedly abusive posts against Chief Ministers of these states. Whereas Tripura Police arrested Anupam Paul (former IT cell of BJP), after a month of his exile at Delhi, Assam police arrested a member of the ruling BJP's social media team on Thursday for allegedly making communal remarks and insulting Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal through posts on private social media handles. At least three others were picked up for questioning from across the state on similar allegations. Police sources confirmed to NDTV that Nitu Bora, a BJP IT cell member from Morigaon district, had been arrested for communal and derogatory social media posts. In recent social media posts Nitu Bora had claimed the BJP government in the state was unable to protect indigenous Assamese from migrant Muslim settlers. He also indicated that he held Chief Minister Sonowal responsible for the state of affairs.

BJP former IT cell head of Tripura and former local TV channel "Headlines Tripura" reporter was arrested at Delhi for spreading news, contents on CM’s family issue on April 2018. He also shared various news which claimed Chief Minister is facing a divorce case filed by his wife.  The arrest took place after TV channel journalist Saikat Talapatra was arrested and got bail from the court.

Anupam Paul who was also appointed in Secretariat left his job and reportedly for last few month was protesting against the Biplab Deb Govt and recently shared contents, papers and news which claimed about Tripura CM’s divorce case.

On May 7, 2019 police lodged case against Anupam Paul and finally he was arrested at Delhi, to be brought in Agartala today.

Tripura police earlier arrested one TV journalist and many more facebook users, but ironically Govt didn’t take action against national media where those news were published, neither the news was deleted.

Tripura DGP (Incharge) Rajiv Singh confirmed media that Anupam Paul was arrested in Delhi.

Recently, Anupam Paul’s his family members were attacked and his house was burnt during his exile.

Also case was filed against Tapas Dey, spokesperson of Tripura Congress and police had interrogated him but didn’t arrest.
