AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, June 1 (TIWN): A major reshuffle is expected in Tripura cabinet led by Chief Minister Biplab Deb after Panchayat Election. Already Health Minister Sudip Barman has been terminated from the Ministry, although the Govt didn’t cite any reason. Reports said that there may be a major reshuffle in the cabinet after the Panchayat Election will be finished by the month of July. With Sudip Barman’s slashing form the cabinet shortage of Ministers will be felt as he was holding 4 department amongst which the most important departments are 1) Health Dept, 2) Science & Technology Dept, 3) PWD (DWS), 4) Industry & Commerce. There are also two Ministers from IPFT but IPFT’s election performance seen in last Lok Sabha Election has been pathetic. There might be introduction of new Ministers and also reshuffle and sacking based on performance. Right now, the portfolios held by Barman will now be jointly held by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb(PWD) and Dy. CM Jishnu Devbarma(Science,Technology & Environment).

On yesterday there was celebration in Sudip Barman’s constituency by some BJP supporters after the Minister was sacked. However, the Chief Minister yet to address media but he signaled about the move long before.

It can be mentioned here that notification for Panchayat election already has been given, which likely to be held on July month. Report says, within month of July the election to be held.On 8th August over 6,000 Panchayat elected leaders’ tenure will be ended. Keeping this mind, State Election Commission has started preparation for Panchayat Election.

After the Panchayat Election, thus a major reshuffle is expected.
