AGARTALA, March 28 (TIWN): After IPFT President NC Debbarma denied to withdraw nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election and to support Congress and okayed the alliance with BJP, Congress State President Pradyot Manikya expressed doubt on IPFT leaders’ self-respects. A meeting was held at NC Debbarma’s house where Pradyot Manikya and INPT President Bijay Hrangkhawl had attended, whereas NC Debbarma said that Congress leaders suddenly came to his house and at the last moment he was not able to take any decision, when one day has left for nomaintion withdrawal. Pradyot Manikya said, “We wanted Tiprasa vote banks should not be divided as BJP will bring Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) once it comes in power. So, we believe, if the leaders have any self-respect they would break alliance with BJP right nowâ€. “Today everyone has come in the same race to defeat the BJP. CPI-M is not even in the race. So the basic fight in Tripura is between BJP and Congress. So we came to appeal to NC Debbarma that as Thursday is the last date for withdrawing nomination, so let us not divide the votes which has been strengthen against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).â€, Manikya said.
“Earlier, the BJP had called NC Debbarma a thief. Also Citizenship Amendment Bill will be passed if BJP comes to power. In this condition the leaders must take some decision whether to trengthen Tiparas vote banks or not”.
“IPFT must withdraw its support against BJP and strengthen Tiprasa votebanks, as BJP is trying to pass the Citizenship Amendment Bill”.
Being asked by media, what NC Debbarma said, Pradyot Manikya said that he would not disclose the internal talks but what NC Debbarma said it was he wants certain time to think over it, but Congress doesn’t have much time for that.
Pradyot Manikya also added, “We welcome if NC Debbarma withdraws nomination, but if he remains strict to his Ministry I don’t know how to support them who have no shame even after BJP called NC Debbarma a thief”.
