AGARTALA, March 16 (TIWN): BJP’s ally IPFT is now finally exhausted after series of negotiation for MP seats sharing with BJP and announced if within today BJP doesn’t allocate one seat to IPFT out of two seats, IPFT will declare their candidates’ names tomorrow 1 pm. IPFT President NC Debbarma said, “If BJP doesn’t keep their promises and commitments then in coming days the alliance may end permanently. If BJP thinks it can win alone, then they are wrong, rather IPFT will win without BJPâ€. Party Secretary Ananta Debbarma hit BJP saying, “During the Assembly Election out of 20 seats, we gave 11 seats to them, but now can’t they give us 1 seat ?The BJP says that friendship can’t lead to compromise. So we also don’t want to fight with friendship. If within tomorrow they do not give us East Tripura seat, then we will announce our candidates’ name for two seats. Tomorrow at 1 pm we will announce our candidates’ namesâ€.
A meeting was held between IPFT leaders, MLA to discuss about MP candidates’ names. After the meeting, Ananta Debbarma said that already candidates are selected and tomorrow IPFT will announce their candidates’ names.
Tripura election will be held in 2 phases on April 11 and April 18 for two seats : East Tripura (ST) & West Tripura. The way Tripura’s Pre-Election season is proceeding, four major parties are in list to battle the upcoming Lok Sabha Election against each-other.
CPI-M has already announced its sitting candidates 1) MP Jitendra Chaudhury and 2) MP Shankar Prasad Dutta as their candidates. In this condition all the parties in strong forms going ahead to battle for 2 Lok Sabha seats.
Four of the parties are strong as CPI-M being the major opposition is already having 2 sitting MPs. IPFT is known as the votebank of indigenous people, whereas BJP won the Assembly Election just before 1 year with majority. But BJP’s support base was taken from Congress, who joined BJP led by ex-Congress MLAs in massive numbers in Tripura. In this situation, Congress’s base is increasing, even though CPI-M wanted that Congress should not give candidate as CPI-M will never support BJP at the centre. In this condition, Tripura Election battle is becoming a major “dangal” in rectangular position.
