AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): Tripura’s Addl DGP Rajiv Singh’s tenure in CBI was full of corruption so CBI started investigation against this IPS officer. In June 2018 national media had been shaken with news of former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Joint Director Rajiv Singh’s compromise with Nirav Modi scam investigations after the e-mail account of Singh was allegedly hacked. Immediately Rajiv Singh’s computers were seized and mail was blocked. More shockingly, CBI immediately terminated Rajiv Singh, then was sent to his parent cadre Tripura. In a TV interview on that time MP Subramanian Swamy said, at highest bureaucratic level it’s shocking corruption, but PM Modi is cleaning the administration now.Even though it was said that Rajiv Singh was appointed as the Additional DGP on Tripura Govt’s request, but national media didn’t agree the fact, rather exposed Rajiv Singh’s corruption to save various financial crimes. Singh became the biggest controversy and his computers were seized followed by National media's resentment over Singh's removal from CBI to send Tripura.

Before being repatriated, Singh headed the Bank Fraud and Security Cell of CBI which probes high value bank frauds. In the last few months of his tenure, Singh supervised probes against diamond merchant Nirav Modi and his maternal uncle Mehul Choksi as well as the preliminary enquiry into potential criminality in ICICI Bank sanctioning a Rs 3,250 crore loan to Videocon Group, whose promoter Venugopal Dhoot had invested in a company founded by Deepak Kochhar, the husband of Chanda Kochhar, the CEO of the bank.

In 2017, CBI came under controversy when Rajiv Singh’s (the then Joint Director in CBIs Banking and Securities Frauds Section) brother Sanjiv Singh, is accused of swindling Allahabad Bank's branch in Ranchi of Rs. 6 crore. Singhs' family home in Hazaribagh in Jharkhand was also raided a year ago when the CBI first registered a case against him and the investigation officer was none other than Rajiv Singh. The complaint filed by the bank said that Sanjiv Singh took a loan against assets he did not own.

Some CBI officers also allege that at that time, Rajiv Singh reached out to colleagues in the CBI who raided his family home and other locations to collect evidence against his brother.

CPI-M leaders Sitaram Yechury, Gautam Das, MP Jiten Chaudhury already complained to Election Commission in Delhi against 3 tainted officials who might help BJP in Poll Rigging, officials are Addl DGP Rajiv Singh, SP West Ajit Pratap, DM West Sandeep Mahatme. Congress also filing official complaint against these officials to stop immiment Poll rigging in Lok Sabha Election. In a move to Election Commission of India to exclude to corrupt police officers from Election duties along with one District Magistrate as they acted as BJP, RSS servants instead of IPS officers.

Noteworthy, during police harassment of TIWN staffs and related person, few honest police officers accepted in private that they are “bound” by Rajiv Singh’s order.
