AGARTALA, March 6 (TIWN): CPI-M former Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha on Wednesday has hit the BJP Govt for putting the social pension beneficiaries in rows of verification who are suffering from oldage. The ex-finance minister alleged that even though BJP Govt said that social pensions may be hiked from Rs. 700 to Rs. 1000, but the true colour of BJP will be seen once the Lok Sabha election is done. Addressing media, Bhanulal Saha said, “Now, even 80 years old men, women are bound to stand in rows to verify their papers, How many of them can have papers in this age. In which way,the BJP Govt is moving forward, nothing is to hide. Once the Lok Sabha election is done, then they will show the true colour”. Bhanulal Saha also slammed the Govt for claiming 7th Pay Commission was given to employees, added, only a part of 7th pay commission was given to the teachers.

“Before the election 200 days of works, 350 rupees of wage was promised. Now, when we proposed in the Assembly to hike wage and mandays, under majority power, the Govt cancelled that proposal”, said Bhanulal Saha.Today, CPI-M had launched a massive protest with 6 demands from the State Govt regarding wage hike, pension hike, mandays hike, land and house allocation.

On the other side, Social Welfare Minister Santana Chakma said that BJP-led government in Tripura will continue with all 30 of the pension schemes introduced by the previous Left Front government that is.

An amount of Rs 26.78 crore is being spent every month providing 33 different social pension schemes, three of which are sponsored by the Centre.

"Some vested interest quarters are campaigning that the 30 social pension schemes introduced by the previous government would be stopped. This is absolutely false," state's Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Santana Chakma told IANS.

The previous Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) dominated Left Front government had introduced the 30 pension schemes, ranging Rs 600 to Rs 2,500 per month, for the people belonging to various economically weaker sections, destitute, unmarried and unemployed women.

The Centre also has been providing three monthly allowances and pensions, including Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme. The state government has shares in all the three union government schemes.

"We have just undertaken a state-wide verification of the beneficiaries. The verification process would be completed by this month end. No body should be panicky about this ongoing verification process. No eligible beneficiary would be removed from any of the scheme," she added.

CPI-M MP Jharna Das Baidya slamming the BJP Govt’s say that only 15-20% people’s names may be slashed said that if counted 15-20% people would cover 40000 to 50000 of people.
