AGARTALA, March 1 (TIWN):The Election Commission (EC), which is likely to announce the Lok Sabha Election schedule in a few weeks has asked for mass level training programmes on VVPAT uses and in Tripura the training has been kicked off amid massive gathering of people. West DM Sandeep Mahatme has flagged off the VVPAT training programme. People across the state are now eyeing for 2019’s Lok Sabha Election and its results. Tripura is going to time use voters Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) in this upcoming election and this will be the second time use of VVPATs after crucial Assembly Election. The mass-level training has begun across the state led by SDMs of various subdivisions. A VVPAT is intended as an independent verification system for voting machines designed to allow voters to verify that their vote was cast correctly, to detect possible election fraud or malfunction, and to provide a means to audit the stored electronic results. It contains name of the candidate (for whom vote has been casted) and symbol of the party/ individual candidate. However, the opposition parties earlier demanded ballot paper voting system’s relaunching.

On the other side, EC asked voters to use their smartphones to file complaints against parties which are violating the model code of conduct.

"Through Citizen Mobile Application, a citizen can submit the complaint from his or her mobile number. It will automatically capture latitude and longitude using the citizen’s mobile GPS connection," said a statement from the Election Commission.

Citizens can check the status of their complaints in every action. The citizen will receive the final status of the complaint through SMS.

Legislative Assembly elections in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Jammu and Kashmir are expected to be held simultaneously with the general elections.
