Agartala, Sept 30 (TIWN): Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), Sub Regional office at Agartala felicitated the pensioners under Employees' Pension Scheme- 1995 to mark the occasion of enhancement of minimum pension to Rs 1000 per month at its conference hall, here today.
The programme was presided over by the Secretary of Labour Commissioner Department- Dilip Acharjee. The welcome address was delivered by Rituraj Medhi, Regional PF commissioner. N.B Das, General of Tripura Cha Mazdoor Union and Pijush Nag, General Secretary of CITU were remained present in the function and addressed the gathering.
According to press release issued by Employees' Provident Fund Organization it administers three schemes in which significant amendments have been effected in August 2014, this year with a view to increase the ambit of social security coverage and enhance the benefits of employees and beneficiaries.
Under Employees' Provident Fund Scheme 1952 (EPF), the mandatory wage ceiling for contribution has been enhanced from Rs 6,500 per month to Rs 15000 per month. The ceiling under Employees' pension scheme has also been enhanced from Rs 6500 to 15000 which implies that the central government would be making an additional contribution of Rs 2500 crore to Rs 3000 crore as its share of 1.16 per cent of wages to employees' Pension Scheme.
