Agartala, Sept 25 (TIWN): Cent percent implementation of sanitation scheme should be completed by 2017, Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar Thursday said in the launching ceremony of ‘National SanitationCampaign’ in Tripura as a part of the ‘Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan’ scheme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
As of now over 80 percent implementation of this scheme has been done successfully in Tripura, he said. In his speech, Sarkar appreciated two schemes of central government- Pradhanmantri Jana Dhan Yojana and National Sanitation Campaign.
“Supply of Drinking water has to be ensured in every house of the state. Quality of drinking water sources should be reviewed on regular basis. Wastage of drinking water should be impeded and Construction of sanitary toilets is mandatory in every house, schools, Anganwadi centres including remote rural areas”, asserted CM.
Following this National Sanitation Campaign various programmes initiative were taken under the chairmanship of minister for PWD (DWS) at New Secretariat on September 22. Among them the inaugural ceremony was conducted today and it would continue till October 22, next.
To make the National Sanitation Campaign grand success, birth anniversary Mahatma Gandhi will be observed by involving grass-root people of Hezamara block on October 02, next. Besides, block level, Gram Panchayat level and school level inaugural ceremony will be conducted. A massive Inter-Personal Communication (IPC) at household level will be conducted from Oct 10 to 18 by involving Gram Panchayat and village councils through block authority.
In view of the Diwali festival, the National Sanitation Campaign will be concluded on October 22 with a state level closing ceremony.
The Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Department- Ratan Bhowmik, Chief Secretary- GK Rao and many others attended the inaugural ceremony of National Sanitation Scheme.
