AGARTALA, September 22 (TIWN): In the multi-crore RMSA scam, serious questions were raised on Sunday when Magistrate rejected the extension of Arnab's remand appeal made by the police in the absence of Assistant Public Prosecutor(APP) Anirban Basak in the court. APP Anirban Basak is dealing the case of Arnab and recent RMSA scam. Police produced Arnab Chakraborty before the court as the 7 days remand period ends today and appealed to extend the remand as many more secrets are yet to come out. But legal experts say that absence of APP is indeed mysterious especially in such a case where top level officials are under suspension. Magistrate sent Arnab to 13 days of Judicial Custody.

A top level police official told TIWN on Sunday night," During the interrogation, Arnab confessed that a major part of the money that he withdrew through forgery of signatures of various higher officials are now with his two close aides, Rajib Das of Narsingarh and Binoy Das of Sidhai. Police appealed to the court to see that these two alleged are not granted anticipatory bail if they desire so. "However, according to TIWN sources it is learnt that police could so far trace only Rs 2 crore of the alleged amount of Rs 5 crore in the recent scam. The official also said that it was important for police to take Arnab in their custody for a few days more to have a grip on the big fishes. But to some mysterious reasons, APP remained absent in the court . It would have been better for police to convince the court in the presence of APP as he would have easily explained the importance of the extension of remand, adds  the official. However, the police official further said that Court allowed the police and other investigating agencies to interrogate the accused Cashier in the jail custody.

Now the entire matter is under dark clouds especially after today's absence of APP Anirban Basak. Several doubts are now surrounding that can only be clarified by the state Govt:-
1) Was the state govt aware that APP won't remain present in the court today or was it a deliberate attempt on the last of the govt?
2) Why were the top three officials informed much before the so-called raids that took place on Wednesday ?
3) Who are the officials whose signatures have been forged by Arnab so far?
4) Why is police instructed not to reveal anything related with this RMSA scam to the media ?
5) Why is School Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty or Principal Secretary G K Rao or Director P K Chakraborty avoiding media till today ?
6) Why is there no official statement being made on behalf of the Govt in this case when allegations have been raised against some of the top level officials ?
7) Why is the Govt unwilling to seek CBI probe in this case though it instantly asked the CBI probe the Saradha Case?
8) Why is neither the state govt nor the School Education Department yet to clear its stand?
9) Why are the reasons for the suspension of Addl Director not made public?
10) Why is there no official briefing on the part of the police about the amount of money so far recovered or detected by the police?
What is more interesting is that state govt is simply playing a mute role in the entire case since very beginning. Nor it has made any statement about the findings of police raids on three officials' residences.

SDPO Sanjay Biswas , who is the investigating officer ( IO) of the current RMSA scam told TIWN over phone on Sunday night ," We have not found anything suspicious from the residences of the  three top level officials of School Education Department on our raid on Wednesday." When asked whether police have found out an excess of money in the bank accounts of such officials , Sanjay Biswas said," No , we did not find any excess amount in their bank accounts based on which we can make any statement."
