Agartala, September 19 (TIWN): The Tripura Pradesh Congress today submitted a deputation to Chief Secretary G Kameshwara Rao on internal audit reports exposing irregularities in the accounts of Block Development Officer (BDO), Bishalgarh and demanded to order a CBI enquiry into the cases.
Speaking to reporters later this evening, Congress spokesperson Dr. Ashok Sinha said that the Chief Secretary had admitted faults exposed in the internal audit and said that the party should have brought more irregularities to the fore.
“We told the Chief Secretary about the internal audit report on the accounts of the BDO of Bishalgarh RD Block for 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 audited during May-June, 2014 and no action followed against the allegedly corrupt officials or political leaders involved”, Dr. Sinha said adding that all blocks of the state were engaged in similar acts of corruption.
He raised the issue of massive misappropriation of funds in the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksa Abhiyan (RMSA) and said that higher officials of the department had criminal involvement into the issue.
The Congress delegation further said that the central government, may one receipt of any complaint regarding the issue of improper utilization of funds in respect of any scheme, if prima facie satisfied that there is a case, cause an investigation into the complaint by any agency designated by it. The central government has full power to refer any designated issue to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for probe into complaints received by it.
