Lack of MGNREGA works, down in economy have left the poor people without work opportunities and less profit. Talking to TIWN, the Ex-CPI-M Minister said, “In last five months rural and hilly areas conditions are left in pathetic shape whereas Law and Order is in peril. Food crisis at the same time has spiked up and attacks upon people including women and children have been increased”. The CPI-M leader has further demanded at least 10 days more work in this ongoing month. Badal Choudhury further referred the South District’s MGNREGA works saying in last 5 months only 10 days of works under MGNREGA was held and other Districts’ conditions are also same.“Tripura had suffered 3 times from flood this year, but people didn’t get anything till now”, he added.

"The BJP government has been trying to curb the rights of the workers and working class people. These are extremely undemocratic",  remarked Choudhury in Belonia press meet.

“Instead of fulfilling people’s promise, BJP is now attacking upon the fundamental rights of people. Before the election employees in Tripura were counting, what will be their salaries after BJP makes its govt here. Few were expecting 30,000 of hikes and thus 7th pay commission’s delaying can’t be taken easily”
