AGARTALA, Aug 7 (TIWN): On the occasion of National Handloom Day-2018, Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma boasted state's potentiality on Handloom craft, discussed in details about the future possibilities of handloom.
The programme was conducted by Weavers' Service Centre on the occasion of 4th National Handloom Day in Pragna Bhawan on Tuesday, inaugurated by Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarma.
Weavers Service Centre, Agartala has been entrusted as the implementing agency for such function in Tripura with the aim of dissemination of information about major initiatives for development of handloom Day for the promotion of Handlooms and Presentation of local success stories, interaction with weavers.
There are different handloom schemes for the handloom weavers. These are :
1. Comprehensive Handloom Cluster Development (CHCDS)
2. Comprehensive Handloom Development Scheme (CHDS),
3. National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP).
It has been said that considering that 'Block' is a vital unit in the District for Development of the handlooms, Govt of India, Ministry of Textiles, Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms has launched "Block Level Cluster" approach to suit the requirement of the Cluster with Higher scale of Funding by Govt of India.
