AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): When CPI-M is hitting the ruling BJP for the ongoing complaints about the temporary suspension of the social pensions in Tripura, BJP Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Sunday has counterattacked the opposition CPI-M saying many heavyweight comrades wives are getting social pension claiming them as “Paricharika†(maid) in official record. The Minister on Sunday was addressing at Udaipur in a programme organized by ‘Development Corporation Karmachari Sangha’. Pranjait Singha Roy said, “4.2 lakh people are benefited from social pensions but it has been noted that heavy weight leaders' wives who are actually not maids, recorded as maids. We will do inquiry on that but right now our aim is to benefit those people who are deprived till now due to the previous corrupt Govt. Many fraud activities now are exposing and our Govt is concerned about the deprived beneficiaries. We are aimed to give a transparent Governance to the peopleâ€.
In the conference ‘Development Corporation Karmachari Sangha’ leaders Samar Roy, Santi Ranjan Debnath, Shyamal Chowdhury led above 100 members were present.
However, BJP before coming in power in its Vision Document said that minimum allowance of the pensioners will be hiked at Rs. 2000. But the Minister did not say anything regarding this.
On the other side, CPI-M has blasted the BJP saying in the name of "Inquiry" poor people are deprived of the benefits. Ultimately, poor people are unable to arrange two times meals for them.
Earlier, CPI-M MP Jitendra Chaudhury said, “When fraud names will come out, the Govt can delete the name and take action. But due to this, the whole pension system's suspension is not acceptable".
CPI-M also has demanded that the allowances should hiked from March, 2018 and BJP Govt must fulfill its promise by hiking the allowance at Rs. 2000 right now.
