AGARTALA, Aug 3 (TIWN): Police’s negligence has been alleged once again in dealing with crime-against-women’s cases. A pregnant housewife Supriya Debnath was allegedly killed by her husband Dibakar Debnath and sister-in-law Anjali Debnath on Tuesday night, but even after 3 days, police have not taken any action against the accused. On Friday local people and the family members have blocked a road in Agartala, where the victim's mother was fainted while protesting. The couple was married before two years, but her in-laws family members continued tortures upon her since the very beginning with various issues including dowry. Her husband’s house is at Laddu Chowmuhani of Agartala, where she had died unnaturally on Tuesday night. But even after complaining to police again and again, no FIR was lodged and nobody was arrested in this murder connection, whereas if a pregnant woman commits suicide also, it would be due to the torture of the family members.
While agitating, the locals alleged that even after the murder, police have not properly investigated and the accused are roaming under free air.
During the protest mother of Supriya had been fainted multiple times.
The road blockadehad taken place at the SDO Chowmuhani also led heavy traffic jam during office hours.
