AGARTALA, Aug 1 (TIWN): Finally after 2 days of silence, Tripura CPI-M has reacted over NRC on Wednesday. Following Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's footsteps, CPI-M has strongly condemned Assam NRC which is going without any national policy cutting 40 lakh people’s name from the citizenship list. Addressing in a press meet, CPI-M Ex-Minister Badal Choudhury said, “The people of India who accepted the partition of in exchange of Independence, today they are again the victims after 72 years of independence. Overnight 40 lakh people have become refugees on own land ? Is it a joke ? How can the NRC exclude armies, Indian President’s family members, govt employees names from the Indians list ? After 72 years of independence people are identifying as Indian and Foreigner. The unhealed pain of partition again green today under the BJP Govtâ€. The CPI-M MLA further thanked Supreme Court for its last hearing on NRC. Mentioning Supreme Court’s interruption on yesterday’s hearing on NRC, Badal Choudhury said, SC Justice Ranjan Gogoi himself has interrupted NRC related action and Gogoi is originated from Assam. He knows about Assam better than us. “After 72 years, in one announcement 40 lakhs people turned refugee including Ex-President of India ?â€
“Where they will go ? Is is possible ? Bangladesh is weak and that’s why you will beat them and push them towards Bangladesh. In today’s time it’s not possible. NRC is unrealistic, just a fairy tale.........”, he added.
“They are our country’s people and so country has to take the responsibility. Only Assam has to take all responsibilities of them……on the basis of community, religion 40 lakh people will be deported from the country……it’s impractical, impossible”, the CPI-M leader said.
