AGARTALA, Aug 1 (TIWN): Biplab Deb’s political immaturity is being reflected in Governance as opposition party offices demolitions to harnessing CPI-M leaders continue unabatedly. Opposition CPI-M has slammed the ruling BJP Govt for cutting the numbers of escorts for the opposition leaders. A press meet was conducted at Melarmath Party Office led by three Ex-Ministers Badal Choudhury, Tapan Chakraborty, Ratan Bhowmik hitting the BJP Govt alleging for snatching security rights of the MLAs, leaders, MPs of CPI-M. Addressing in a press meet, CPI-M Ex-Finance Minister MLA Badal Choudhury said, it’s very surprising that the opposition leaders and MLAs, Ex-Ministers, MPs are demanding escorts for themselves, whereas in CPI-M’s time nobody had to demand for these basic rights. “There is no shortage of police, which we observed during Udaipur violence on July 24, when miscreants had attacked upon CPI-M leaders and activists".

"An MP has right to get two escorts, but when we request only one vehicle is given to the MP, whereas any time the vehicle may disturb. When we as Ex-Ministers are going to stay somewhere hardly one or two rooms are given for us and sometimes we and Police have to stay in a room together. That’s how we are operating, but an Ex-Minister can easily get three escorts”, Choudhury told media.

“In case Manik Sarkar who was the four-time Chief Minister of Tripura is getting escort facilities like Ministers, but when he is going outside, nothing is given to him. But Manik Sarkar deserves that. He is widely accepted personality country-wide too”, Badal Choudhury added.

The CPI-M MLA further took a dig at the ruling party with the continuous attacks upon the CPI-M activists and leaders  across the state, mentioning “Four of our comrades died in last 4 months”.

Choudhury also described how  at South Tripura and in Udaipur recently CPI-M supporters were attacked to signify the importance of ‘escorts’,

CPI-M has also written a letter to the DGP demanding to increase the numbers of security for them and also to reinstall the houseguard system.

In the letter, CPI-M wrote, “The Police Dept has abruptly reduced the numbers of police personnel security provided to the sitting MLAs, former MLAs, former MPs and their house guards. It is surprising while there is an organized attempt to confine the movements of the opposition political leaders, particularly the CPI-M leaders under threat, the decision of  reducing security to the CPI-M MLAs, MPs will encourage those force whose political intention is to desist to make immovable the opposition MLAs, MPs from their rightful political activity and discharge their constitutional activities”.

The letter to DPG also described how various MLAs faced attacks in last few months with political intention and demanded the security must be reinstalled. Total 6 demands have been placed which includes security demand for the Ex-MLAs.
