AGARTALA, July 18 (TIWN): Tripura Politicians continue to exploit Court system by playing delay games for votebank politics. The much awaited 10323 teachers case in Supreme Court once again has been delayed as the Court couldn’t pronounce the Final Verdict on Wednesday. Talking to TIWN over phone Tripura Law Secretary Data Mohon Jamatia from Delhi confirmed that till the final verdict, all the teachers to continue their jobs regularly. However, the exact date will be announced once Supreme Court declares in the afternoon. The teachers however have lost their actual job already on December 31st 2017, after SC had spotted irregularities in their job recruitment who were recruited by CPI-M Govt in 2009-10. Then with the request of the then State Govt SC offered the teachers ad-hoc job for next 6 months but as BJP before the election promised the teachers that Govt will solve the problem of 10323 teachers once BJP is in power, so it has re-appealed in the SC for ad-hoc’s extension for more two years.
The hearing today was pronounced by Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit. However, according to court order visible in the SC's site on July 27 the next hearing will be pronounced.
10,323 teachers' jobs were first cancelled by Tripura High Court in 2014 on May 7 after spotting irregularities in the recruitment process, before the issue was taken to Supreme Court by the the CPI-M Govt.
A division bench of the high court, comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Swapan Chandra Das, had passed then order May 7, 2014 terminating the jobs of 10,323 school teachers after Dec 31, citing irregularities in recruitment and SC has upheld High Court's 2014 verdict.
On March 29, 2017, the Supreme Court also held High Court's order and terminated the teachers. Supreme Court in a humanaitarian gesture to 10323 teachers mentioned that the teachers will continue their jobs till 2017, 31st Dec.
Later with the request of CPI-M ledTripura Govt, the Supreme Court added 6 months of ad hoc basis jobs for the teachers which was to be ended on June 30, 2018.
After Biplab Deb led new Govt came in power it appealed the Supreme Court for the extension of two years more in the ad hoc. The next hearing has been listed for that on July 27 (date can be changed) and the teachers to continue their jobs till then until Supreme Court gives the final verdict.
