BJP Govt has introduced 2004’s Central Pension Policy in Tripura for Govt employees who have been appointed from 1st July, 2018 are not eligible for some key benefits. The decision has been slammed by the job aspirants and newly appointed employees. Amid limited funds, going against the Central Govt Tripura CPI-M Govt had never removed the pension facility for employees, but within 4 months of taking charge BJP Govt even though could not give 7th Pay Commission, neither could recruit people in new posts but it has successfully changed the Pension rule for pensioners so that Pensioners are deprived off GPF and other benefits.

In the Govt notification issued on July 13,2018 it has been said, “Pension liabilities growing over years. The situation has been aggravated as there is no asset to back this liabilities… Pension  liabilities of the Govt of Tripura has been increased from Rs. 267.35 croes  in 2006-07 Rs.1606.01 which Is 6 times jump in the pension expenditure…The State govt has approved the new defined contributory pension scheme to all to all new entrants to state govt service joining on or after 2018, July 1st”.

The NPS (New Pension Scheme) will also be applicable for fixed pay employees under the state govt who are being appointed to a fixed post appointed created by keeping regular pay post in abeyance on or after July 1st, 2018.

Thus employees joined since July 1st will not come under Central Civil Services rules 1972 as adopted by the Govt of of Tripura. They will not be entitled to GPF (General Provident Fund).

However the law will be applicable only for those employees who will be recruited from July, 2018.

Former Finance Minister Bhanu Lal Saha said to TIWN, “Central Govt since Congress era had been pressuring us to implement the new pension policy but it was Left govt which always saved the earlier pensionpolicy. What the new policy wants to say is once an employees is done with his/her job then govt will have no liability, which according to us is very cruel”.
