AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Health Minister Sudip Barman on Wednesday has called for planning, gender equality and maternal health on the occasion of World Population Day.

"Join the campaign today to have enough space to live on earth. Let's spread awareness on the need for family planning, gender equality and maternal health", said Health Minister.

World Population day is an annual event, observed on July 11 every year, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues. The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989.
