AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Minister of Animal Resource Development Santana Chakma who made 9 years long pending demand possible by her meeting with Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh ( Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare ) on yesterday at Delhi and managed Tripura Veterinary College's recognition under Veterinary Council of India (VCI) received a grand welcome at Agartala Airport by College students on Wednesday morning 10 am. Students, Professors gathered at Agartala Airport to welcome her, thanked her for making ‘Dream into Reality’. The demand turned almost impossible for the College since its establishment in 2009. Constant media reports, students protests also couldn’t make it possible which turned worst since last two years when passed out students were unable to appear in the TPSC exams as their College turned ‘unrecognized’ even though all students had to crack joint entrance exams to get admission.

Ultimately with Minister Santana Chakma’s bold move 9 years long pending demand has been fulfilled within 4 months of her Ministry. She has also set an example how to utilize the State-Centre relationship which saved many students and passed out students immediate futures.

On yesterday Veterinary College student Govinda Das, who was among those students who led the protest in systematic manner without breaking any law, called TIWN Office and informed about that first. Then when TIWN contacted  Veterinary College head, it was said, “We are very happy that our College now is recognized under VCI and we got the registration which was a much awaiting demand".

Since 2009 the College was established but was  left without recognition under VCI and since two years no registration could be managed. Finally, with the struggles of the students the College has been given with “Recognition” marking a successful history of Veterinary students protest  and teachers hard attempts. The professors / lecturers were always behind the students protest with silent support, confirmed the College students.
