AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Trinamool has opposed BJP Govt’s decision of renaming Agartala Airport’s name after King Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya and demanded immediate cancellation of the decision.
Trinamool media cell incharge Sandip Chakraborty said, “The Kings always had been engaged in exploitation of people, rather the Airport should be named after a great person who really did for Tripura”.
“It was Sachindralal Sing who transformed Tripura into a state from Union territory. In similar way there are other great persons, freedom fighters in state. Apart from that there are already institutions named after the King”, the Trinamool leader said.
“If Assam, Orissa like states can name their Airports after popular Chief Ministers names, why not Tripura?”, Sandip Chakraborty further raised question.
