AGARTALA, July 3 (TIWN): In a move to upgrade Education quality and to spot loopholes in the infrastructure and teachers performance schools wide, Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath has visited various schools in the capital city Agartala. The visit started from Bodhjung School, where the Education Minister expressed resentments as the Principal of the School was absent and also the infrastructure and facilities are not available. At the same time, mid day meal and water facility system were in bad shape and also the toilets were found unhygienic. The second visit was at Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School where the Minister spent huge times with students and also quizzed the students at there. However, the toilet facility in Shishu Bihar school also was not satisfying and the irregularities of teachers were spotted. The Minister also sat with the students and talked with them for long during his schools visit. Recently, there were similar visits made by Education Dept officials across the state. Many teachers were also suspended or served with show-cause letter for negligence in duties in last one month.
Earlier, Ratan Lal Nath told media, Tripura schools lack both quality and quantity of teachers.
Addressing media after the visit, Ratan Lal Nath said if this is the condition of town areas schools and Sishu Bihar like schools, what will be condition of rest of Tripura’s schools.
“I can not develop everything in one day, but today also certain steps will be taken. Our aim is not to punish the teachers but to develop their work cultures. From mid-day meal to all, massive lootings are going on violating the Right to Education norms”, Ratan Lal Nath told media.
