AGARTALA, July 2 (TIWN): IPFT has demanded earliest completion of Block Advisory Committee (BAC) chairpersons appointments.

Addressing in a press conference Add General Secretary of IPFT Mangal Debbarma told BJP-IPFT Govt,”The ongoing initiative of Govt of Tripura for reconstitution of block advisory committees and appointment of Chairperson thereof for as many as 41 RD Blocks should be completed at the earliest opportunity”.

“The appointment of the chairpersons of as many as 27 RD blocks and notified thereon on 11^th May 2018 has created some controversy in some RD Blocks. The controversies should be sorted out in consultation with stakeholder political parties in power and also to complete re-constitution and appointment of chairpersons of the remaining 14 RD blocks through bilateral discussion”, Debbarma said.

He further said, “Neither in Tripura Panchayat Act nor in the Village Committee Act of the provision for constitution of BAC and appointment of chairperson thereof are in existence. The ongoing existence of reconstitution of Block Advisory Committee and the Chairpersons thereof are only following the executive decisions formulated by the former state govt (Left Govt). IPFT appeals for appropriate amendment of Tripura Panchayat Act and Village Committee Act through incorporating specific provisions for constitution of Block advisory Committee and the appointment of Chairperson thereof in order to remove difficulties if any on this issue”.
