Tripura’s ‘Jungleraj’ continue : Journalist attacked in broad daylight by around 20 miscreants, no arrests yet, Law & Order deteriorates further

AGARTALA, June 30 (TIWN): Under Biplab Deb’s Home Ministry and Tripura’s lameduck DGP A.K.Sukla, Law & Order took nosedive as daily attacks, murders, violences turned Tripura into most dangerous State in North East India. Once again state journalist has been attacked and this time it occurred in an open market. Attacked journalist Narayan Dhar has been admitted in GB hospital is a journalist of "Daily Desher Katha". According to Daily Desher Katha press release, at around 11 am when Narayan Dhar went to recharge his mobile the attack took place. Around 20 miscreants, who have been claimed as BJP local activists jumped over him and for 20 minutes in the open market he was beaten. The shopkeepers couldn’t come forward as the miscreants was too violent. At the same time, slang languages were thrown to him warning his dead body will not be found if any complain is registered in police station.

They also warned Narayan Dhar to snatch his family members lives and his newspaper Daily Desher Kath to be banned.

The incident took place after local MLA cum Minister Ratan Lal Nath held a press conference threatening ‘Daily Desher Katha’ to be banned with some legal issues. Minister gave that reaction after Daily Desher Kath ex-Editor cum CPI-M spokesperson Gautam Das alleged, Ratan Lal Nath has threatened the hawkers at Mohanpur if he carries this particular newspaper then his dead body will not be found.

The whole Mohanpur area has been suffering from lawlessness since 10 years boy Purna Biswas was killed a Ratan Lal Nath said, he killing is somehow connected with ‘kidney smuggling’.

Another TV channel journalist of News Vanguard Suman Debnath was attacked on June 18 by oil mafias at Dharmanagar.

Before the election, two journalists Santanu Bhaumik, Sudip Datta Bhaumik of Trpura was killed back in 2017.

The increasing attacks upon journalists have become a matter of concern.
