AGARTALA, June 20 (TIWN): Day-2 in Tripura Assembly has been started after a long budget session held on yesterday.

Discussion took place at the beginning centering Health service and Flood control management today. 

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma on Tuesday has placed a budget of Rs. 16,387 crores, with a hike of 14 % than the last financial year. Around thousand crores have been kept for 7th pay commission giving a signal that Tripura Govt will surely allocated 7th Pay Commission for its govt employees.

"Covering the previous Left Front government's budget deficit, our Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma today (Tuesday) tabled a budget in the house considering the interests of all section of people including tribals, scheduled caste, other backward community, youths, women and others," he said.

 Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has marked the budget as ‘historical’ with Zero-deficit even after covering the previous year’s budget and keeping fund for 7th Pay Commission.

Addressing media after budget was placed, Chief Minister thanked PM Modi, Arun Jaitely, State Finance Minister Jishnu Debbarma.

Tabling the budget on the first day of the assembly session, Dev Varma, who holds the Finance portfolio, said that there is no deficit in the budget. He, however, proposed increase of sales tax on petrol by two per cent and on diesel and piped natural gas by one per cent each.

Besides, the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led alliance government levied cess on turnover at the rate of two per cent on the three fuels.
