AGARTALA, June 19 (TIWN): Following the brutal attack upon North Tripura Photo-Journalist of 'News Vanguard', 'TIWN', 'Syandan Patrika' Suman Debnath a team of journalists from Agartala have rushed to Dharmanagar hospital to meet Suman. After talking to Suman, who is right now admitted in Dharmanagar hospital the team of journalists also have met SP North Manik Lal Das and discussed about the issue. Talking to TIWN over phone, SP of North District Manik Lal Das said, one person has been arrested in connection with Suman Debnath murder-attempt case named Mihir Deb, whereas Simin Ahmed is still absconding. SP also accepted the trend of fuel-theft in North Tripura amid police’s constant raids. Suman from Dharmanagar hospital told TIWN Agartala office, Simin Ahmed is the main culprit and police would hardly find him out. Suman also suspected, Simin Ahmed who actually tried to kill him using sharp weapon is right now in Dharmanagar but police’s unsuccessful drive to catch him has upset the victim.

FIR had been lodged by Suman against Mihir Deb, Simin Ahmed under Sections 325,307,386, 34 (IPC).The incident took place on yesterday night at around 10.45 pm night when Suman was returning from Shanichara.

As soon as when Suman reached Indian Oil Depo Simin Mia called him and requested him to go inside the vendor. After entering the shop he attacked Suman with sharp weapon. Along with him, another Mihir Deb was present any anyhow Suman survived himself and rushed to Dharmanagar District hospital.

This is not the first attack upon him, but in 2017 TIWN published how openly flues are being theft from Dharmanar before it reach at petrol pumps. Those pictures, videos had become viral and hit the illegal fuel sellers at Rajbari area.

Recently, he was threatened in phone after he exposed Litchi business’s scandals ongoing at Dharmanagar.

Tripura has become a free space for journalists attacks. Political parties also have found using the sentiment of journalists attacks as pre-election games.

Ahead of Assembly Election BJP strived highest for journalists justice and demanding CBI for slain journalists Santanu Bhaumik and Sudip Datta Bhaumik which party did highest protest it’s well-known but after assuming power BJP Govt’s negligence has led both the cases far from CBI investigation and after BJP came in power many times journalists were attacked.

But unfortunately, not a single statement was given by the state govt against increasing brutal attacks upon journalists.
