AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): Tripura Police’s move towards to make a ‘Drug-free Tripura’ continues across 8 Districts. Out of 8 Districts, Assam lined North District and Bangladesh lined Sepahijala District have been most crucial in drug-rackets. Talking to SP Sepahijala Kulwant Singh, he told TIWN, since the month April of 2018 (2 and half month) total 33 cases have been lodged against drug-peddlers in Sepahijala Districts. SP mentioned, “As a part of Anti-drug mission, police have spread its network at the subdivisional levels. We have put our secret informers and it has been told them if any kind of drug business is suspected they must informed police. Via any secret source police when have been complained, immediately police have taken actionâ€. Total 6000 kg of ganja was seized in last 2 and half months only by Sepahijala Police.
However, expressing concern about the border fencing for which central govt officers time to time have been visited in Tripura, SP said, the fencing was time to time delayed with some issues and total 9 km of border is still unfenced !
“Few people may be with secret agenda had been creating problems in border fencing led the fencing work to be postponed. Govt has also assured them to provide compensations. However, right now border fencing work is going on at Sonamura”, SP said.
“It will take certain time to complete the mission of Drug-free Tripura. Hence it’s a long way to go. But Ganja cultivation have been stopped and the ending of ganja nurturing is right now police’s target in Sepahijala District”, SP added.
