AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): Biplab Deb finally facing harsh reality after tall promises to solve Agartala’s water logging problem. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb was hit by the reality today, after checking the water-logging in his own constituency Banamalipur followed by Thursday night's rain. CM hit the previous CPI-M govt for constructing unscientific drainage system across the city Agartala in last 25 years. Chief Minister who on March 18 (10 days after taking oath) said in a programme at Banamalipur, “Now Govt has changed and so the work culture will also be changed. Within 15 days I have ordered to recover the drainage system of the city. Hence, no flood this year will be experienced”, today said just the opposite. CM’s promise on March-18 was a bluff and impractical as it’s naturally not possible to mitigate the water logging problems of the city within such a short period of time and today CM himself accepted that upgradation of city is not so an easy work.

Today after checking the flood, Chief Minister has given up saying, “It’s not possible for me to compete all works within 15 days or 1 month and when already monsoon has been started, work can not be continued much in drainage system's recovery”.

CM also announced Rs. 7 crores fund's immediate sanctioning for the minimum relief for the citizens from such problems.

Addressing further media at Banamalipur, CM said, “Agartala city, especially my own constituency Banamalipur is hit by water-logging problems every year. Before the election, they asked nothing from me but urged to end the water-logging problem of the locality. I appealed the common men to allocate me few time as in one day I can not complete all drains”.

“Unscientific coverage of the drains led the city to flood in each monsoon. That’s why I have immediately released Rs. 7 crores, but in this monsoon nothing much can be done. However, I assure that in the next monsoon there will be no flood”, CM told media.

There are 8 to10 points in the city where water-logging are a perennial problem during monsoon seasons triggering serious traffic jams and flooding in various localities.

CPI-M Govt's foolishness in closing Agartala's drainage system proved Manik Sarkar Govt as blind-followers bureaucrats whims & fancies or these semi-literate and time of Biplab Deb also the possibilities are same.

Instead of proper drainage, Biplab Deb bought expensive machines to discharge water from Agartala city and the result has emerged with a big zero and today Agartala City is flooding after 30 minutes of rain.
