AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): Keeping the Rabindra Jayanti ahead, preparations for the celebrations are on peak.
At Rabindra Kanan, Rabindra Bhawan and other places the preparation for the celebration has started from yesterday.
This year Rabindra Jayanti is on May 9 that is tomorrow following the Bengali calendar’s date of Boishakh-25.
Tripura Chief Minister BIplab Deb has announced, this year on 25th-Baishakh (May-9) will be celebrated in each village of the state.
Addressing media, the Chief Minister said, “Rabindranath Tagore was very close to Tripura and he had a strong bonding with Tripura’s royal family. Rabindranath Tagore will be remembered by all and in every village there will a programme in his honour. Tributes will be paid to Tagore across state and 5 to 10 minutes speech will be delivered”.
Recently in last Mann-Ki-Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Bengali litterateur Rabindranath Tagore for his visionary outlook and versatile knowledge in various fields.
“I can’t speak in Bengali, but since my childhood in radio I used to listen Rabindra Sangeet…’Aguner Paras Moni’… which gave me a different peaceful feeling”, Modi said.
“It was my habit to listen Rabindra Sangeet every morning”, PM said in Mann Ki Baat.
Modi was replying a citizen from West Bengal who alleged that even though Rabindra Jayanti is celebrated every year, but people have forgotten the ideology, philosophy of Tagore.
Modi said, “Gurudev Thakur was not only a knowledgeable person, but was a great teacher. He is an example that when you are a knowledgeable person, you have bigger responsibilities”.
Following the spirit of PM Modi for Tagore, Tripura will be celebrating this progarmme will more enthusiasm this year.
