AGARTALA, May 6 (TIWN): Tripura CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar on Sunday has announced, at least 99 party offices of their party have been served with notices, for building over govt lands illegally. Addressing media at Melarmath Headquarter, Bijan Dhar said, “At the beginning via goons the BJP had attacked our party offices and now they are trying to bulldoze our party offices in a maximum numbers. The notices were given to various party offices in various forms via SDMs”. “The time-periods which have been provided to us for removing the party offices also vary, as for few party offices the govt has given 10 days time-limitation but in some more places they have given 7 days notice in advance. We have checked the matters in details at the party-level”, Dhar said.

"It's true that some of those party offices are made over govt lands and some we made by ‘grabbing’, but these are very normal practices in party office constructions across India", Dhar said.

“This is nothing but an attempt of BJP Govt to remove the oppositions from the state and to break down opposition's organizational strength”, he said.

Tripura Congress also received similar notices. Whereas Congress President Birjit Sinha today said, "Congress will never allow to bulldoze  party offices", CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar said, “We will not go in Congress’s way but legally we will handle the issues. In Delhi like places also, such party office buildings are there. But if they want to destroy the party offices, then alternative placements should be given with compensations”.

“Party offices are generally made in such manners. If a market can be located on govt land, why not party offices ? Because the govt allowed us to build party offices on that time, so we had constructed our offices on those govt lands, which is a very normal practice", Bijan Dhar said.

"Not only this, in maximum places our party offices were built before 40 years. How can they shift those offices ?”, Bijan Dhar added.
