AGARTALA, Jan 18 (TIWN): Tripura CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar after the election date was announced told TIWN that the election is holding in correct time and the anti-left party's attempt of delaying the election has been failed massively. "We are happy with the decision of Election Commission, which has kept its promise", said Dhar. On the other side, Congress Chief Birjit Sinha said that the election date is in reasonable time and BJP Vice President Subol Bhowmik said that BJP never wanted the election to delay, rather they demanded for a free and fair election and election commission has promised them that a free and fair election will be conducted". On Tuesday, in a press conference CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar said, "Election date must be declared soon but it's getting delayed. But we believe that nothing to worried on it as EC has already promised that Election will be in time".
'In Facebook, there are debates going on about election dates, but the election must be ended by February'. said Bijan Dhar.
'After February, at the beginning of March Tripura Board examinations will begin. So, how EC will conduct the election, it's up to them'.
'EC's full team earlier during their visit in Agartala said that Election will be conducted in time. We convey our respect for EC's decision. We are hopeful that election must be ended within time', added Dhar.
However, today all parties said that they are ready for the election at any time. Securities have been tightened across the state keeping the election in front.
Chief Election Commissioner AK Jyoti in a press meet told reporters, "The code of conduct has come into effect from today in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura ahead of the assembly elections in these three states".
