AGARTALA, Dec 17 (TIWN): CPI-M’s pre-election games with central sponsored Child Rearing leaves for women Govt employees has been strongly criticized by a section of State Govt employees as first of all the leaves have been directed by the central govt. But CPI-M has been continued to hold rallies congratulating the Govt for its Breakthrough decision. TIWN has collected the Assam and West Bengal Govt's extra-leave related Govt circulation, where it is clearly written that before 2 years Mamata Banerjee and before 1 year Assam CM SarbanandaSonowal had implemented the same. Not only, Tripura Govt has announced about the leaves after central govt's order which came in 27th March, 2017 to various states.

Secondly, Tripura Govt’s claims about 730 days leave for first ever launching in any Indian state, is totally a bluff as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee long back in 2015 had announced 2 years of maternity leave for her women govt employees. On July 18, 2015 West Bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had declared that women teachers of government-aided schools and colleges and women staffers in West Bengal state government undertakings are already getting two years of child care leave. The rule was also same that the child has to be under 18 and the leave can be taken in phases. Mamata Banerjee did that job within few years of her ruling at West Bengal, whereas Tripura CPI-M Govt even after ruling for long 25 years it never thought above 6 months of maternal leave.

In 2017, 5th August, Mamata Banerjee government has decided to sanction maternity leave for a maximum period of 180 days for all categories of female contractual employees engaged directly by the state government. So, question raises, what Tripura CPI-M Govt is trying to prove amidst 4th pay commission’s facility provided to its employees ?

Moreover, even though it was highlighted that through cabinet meeting the 730 days extra leave was considered for women by Tripura's CPI-M Govt but later during the press meet it came out of Bhanu Lal Saha’s mouth itself that the leave was directed by the Central Govt itself for all states. Bhanu Lal Saha has clearly said while interacting with media, “We have implemented it and Govt of India under Child Care leave has allowed the facility for its employees. Other states will also launch it but we have launched it”.
