Tripura's Oldest School remains glorified after 127 years

AGARTALA, Dec 15 (TIWN): Umakanta Academy , Tripura's oldest school is celebrating 127th foundation day today with full enthusiasm.

A massive rally was conducted in the morning to mark the celebration. 

This school, even though is known as the oldest school but its glories have remained shining even after 127 years.

Students of the school are yet performing excellent in board exams, sports and various other fields.

Being located on the heart of the city, Umakanta School has become a part of Agartala's identity.

Umakanta Academy is an educational institute located in the heart of Agartala, India. Established in 1890, it is the oldest school in Tripura.

The Agartala HE school was founded by Maharaja Bir Ch Manikya in 1890 and developed by the Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya when he acceded to the throne in 1896. 

It was renamed as Umakanta academy in 1904 in recognition of activities of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom Sri Umakanta Das. It has three play grounds, one swimming pool and a hostel.
