AGARTALA, Nov 23 (TIWN): The 12 hrs Strike called as a condemnation to the killing of Tripura Senior Journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik couldn’t remain peaceful as at least 12 persons have been injured in clash during strike hours at Pratapgarh. As per the last information, activists from CPI-M, BJP and Congress including a police official have been injured in the clash at Pratapgarh. Once again resentment have brewed against police for negligence in duty during picketing hours. Reacting over the incident Sunil Deodhar said, “Atleast 5 BJP activists have been attacked by CPI-M cadres at Pratapgarh. They are undergoing treatment in hospitals. However, attack can not stop BJPâ€.
Some of the injured persons have been identified as Rajesh Saha, Suman Ghosh, Diptanu Chowdhury, Sanjay Das, Srikanta Bardhan (Police) and many others including 4 Congress activists.
Police’s heavy negligence have been alleged for allowing face to face contrast among both the political parties. Even though since the morning heavy security was provided but loopholes of police’s duty came out with the incident.
BJP’s Rajesh Saha has been taken to IGM, whereas Diptanu Chowdhury has been taken to GB hospital.
Congress’s Viki Sil, Santnau Pal, Tutal Dey, Sushanta Chakraborty were injured.
Getting informed about the incident from Secretariat’s blockade, BJP delegates rushed to Pratapgarh condemning the incident. This issue was raised after CPI-M activists led by injured Suman Ghosh, who is DYFI District Secretary asked shop-keepers to open their shops.
However, the 12 hrs strike have received a major success which was called by BJP to protest against Journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik’s murder. After the strike, Sunil Deodhar tweeted, “ BJP called called bandh against murder of Journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik’s got a statewide support. People from all walks of life supported this state wide bandh. However CPI-M is trying its level best to create a ruckus in state by using method of lumpenism, hoolliganism, vandalism. People of Tripura will give them befitting reply in upcoming assembly Elections”.
