AGARTALA, Nov 6 (TIWN): 'Who killed Kalpana Das if not her husband Jiten Das ?', opposition BJP has been strict to the question since Ex-CPI-M leader Jiten Das along with his family members were acquitted in Kalpana Das's murder case on Oct 31. After years of delays and loopholes in the investigation, Tripura police led by SIT (Special Investigation Team), even though could not find out the actual culprits to kill her brutally but police's loose investigation have acquitted all the accused and thus the case remained at last unconvinced. Expressing shocks over the release of 7 accused in Kalpana Das's murder case, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his two day visit in Tripura on Nov 2nd said, "Every time I come in Tripura, I have been introduced with peculiar aspects 'Jiten Das, CPI-M leader has been acquitted in Kalpana murder case, has shocked me. If not Jiten Das then Who killed Kalpana Das ? Police should give answer".

'This is how CPI-M operates with murder cases and shelters under loose investigation and instead of CBI they form SIT who have been failed totally to find out the criminals in every cases. If this is the performance of SIT with Kalpana murder case, what will be the future of Santanu murder case?" "If under CPI-M controlled SIT all accused acquitted in Kalpana Das's murder case then how SIT is to probe Santanu murder case ?", said Sarma.

State BJP leader Subal Bhowmik on Oct 31 reacting over the shocking acquaintance of Jiten Das and 6 told TIWN, "What can we expect more than this in Tripura, where 86 % cases remain unconvicted and the criminals release without punishment everyday led by loose investigation of Tripura Police ? Nowhere except in Tripura 86 % cases remain unconvicted. Atleast 50 % cases case are convicted in any other state."

On Monday, BJP women activists demanded the reopening of Kalpana Das's murder case with CBI. One of the BJP women activists  told TIWN, "From Anuara to Kalpana Das, nowhere police have been succeeded. If CBI could investigate then the punishment was for sure".

The BJPs staged demonstration at the police headquarter centering on demanding strictest action against Dharmanagar O/C-Rakhal Mitra, who assaulted BJP Mohila Morcha leader Barnali Goswami during a protest at there.

The agitators gheraoed the Police headquarter for hours  demanding diminishing crime against women and proper investigation in each case held against women in Tripura.
