AGARTALA / DHARMANAGAR, Nov 6 (TIWN): BJP Women Morcha on Monday has staged hourlong demonstration at the police headquarter demanding strictest action against Dharmanagar PS's O/C-Rakhal Mitra.

The protest was followed by an assault upon a woman BJP activist at Dharmanagar during a protest on Oct-27 but police has not taken any action after the complaint.

In the deputation, placed to the DGP, Mohila Morcha President Papiya Dutta said, "You are aware of the fact that on last 27-10-2017, the activists of BMS were peacefully attending a Dharna at Inter State Bus Terminal but were attacked hooligans belonging to CITU backed by ruling party at 1 PM. Coming to know that some BMS activists were seriously injured, some members of BJP Mohila Morcha led by Barnali Goswami, VP of Tripura State Mohila Morcha Committee went to the spot. Surprisingly, the police present on the scene under the command of Rakhal Mitra, O/C-Dharmanagar PS without any rhyme and  reason assaulted Barnali Goswami with lathi and assaulted.

Goswami was later treated in Dharmnagar hospital with severe injuries. The BJP women activists also claimed that the total incident held in front of the mentioned O/C who was observing everything without halting the assault.

Opposition BJP also claimed that the assault was barbaric demanding further action against the O/C.

"The assault can not go unpunished", said Papiya Dutta going further.
