AGARTLA, Nov 5 (TIWN): One more shocking scam-episode led by the CPI-M Govt under Tripura Education Dept here was unveiled by opposition BJP leader MLA Sudip Barman on Saturday. The corruption was related to the GNM, ANM admissions of Madhyamik and HS passed out students. According to the opposition leader, ‘Nothing is known what is the process of student’s admission in such courses’. Whether names of good students with above 80 % marks were cancelled in the admission list, but at the same time poor mark holders were given admission in GNM, ANM courses, which has triggered much resentment among a section of deprived students. In this regard, opposition MLA Sudip Roy Barman has written a letter to the Chief Secretary, Sanjeev Ranjan asking reason behind such partial, illogical and illegal admissions.

In the letter, Barman wrote, “There has been a serious malpractice reported in the process of admission in General Nursing & Midwives Nursing (ANM) and Auxiliary Nursing & Midwives (ANM)…Unfortunately, the process of admission has been questioned for long time but administration didn’t pay any heed to it. It is evident from the record that the student those who were selected for the admission this year are neither the highest scorers in the respective exams nor appeared in any written test. The entire selection was done in most unfair means i.e. so called walk in interview and the dept couldn’t be able to justify selection”.

Barman further said that one Manidipa Baidya of Barpathari, Belonia was denied in getting admission in GNM course despite having 81 percent mark in HS and 75 percent in Madhyamik. But the selected candidates as Payal Biswas, Susmita Baidya, Sanchita Sarkar, Shampa Nath are having poor marks in the respective exams than Manidipa Baidya.

Barman alleged, “The entire selection process of the course was made in corrupt means depriving the genuine aspirants”.

The State Govt is running 2 GNM with total 200 students’ admission capacity and in 3 ANM schools there are 420 students’ seats but the entire selection procedure has been alleged as ‘vague’.

The opposition leader further demanded the cancellation of the entire list of the selected candidates of GNM and ANM for this year and to start a written test among aspirants or select the highest scorers of HS and Madhyamik exams for admission of GNM and ANM courses. Also demand raised to take action against the corrupted govt officials.
