AGARTALA, Oct 27 (TIWN): HUJI terrorist Mamun Mia was sheltered in Chief Minister relative’s house in Ramnagarunder the arrangements by Minister Sahid Chowdhury prior to 2008 election. Unless Bengal CID caught HUJI operative Mamun Mia in Agartala, nexus between ruling CPI-M and cross-border smuggling gangs would have remain unknown. Mamun Mia was arrested by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department on March 27, 2008 from Agartala following the arrest of two Bangladeshis, Alamgir Hussain and Shamim Akhtar, from Howrah along with some arms and explosives. The rented house is said to be of a close relative of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar where Mamun was introduced by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sahid Choudhury. Mamun Mia in other words stayed under direct patronage of Sahid Chowdhury and Manik Sarkar.

On Thursday evening while talking to TIWN , MLA Ratan Lal Nath said, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar blocked further investigation on nexus between terrorist Mamun Mia and Minister Sahid Chowdhury as CPI-M was afraid of drug smuggling money flow exposures.

‘Instead of inviting NIA, CBI investigations onto Sonamura, Boxanagarbased  terror links and smuggling empires, Manik Sarkar instead dumped the investigation into cold storage to save not only Sahid Chowdhury but many other CPI-M leaders like Gautam Das’, Nath added.

CPI-M’s lavish offices across Tripura, hundreds of crores election expenses indicate direct funding by Bangladesh based terrorist outfits and smuggling gangs.

Though HUJI terrorist Mamun didn't have a known source of income but lived a lavish life in a rented house of Chief Minister's relative hardly 200 metres away from the state police headquarters.

In 2008, Tripura Chief Judicial Magistrate court has ordered a ten-day police remand to a suspected Bangladeshi militant Mamun Mia, alias Suman Majumdar to probe into the matter of his links with state Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sahid Choudhury in anti-Indian activities and trafficking in arms and explosives.

Mamun Mia was arrested by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department on March 27 from Agartala following the arrest of two Bangladeshis, Alamgir Hussain and Shamim Akhtar, from Howrah along with some arms and explosives.

But opposition Congress which staged a walkout from the Assembly House, after an uproar demanding CBI inquiry said that Choudhury helped Mamun Mia to procure not only a permanent resident certificate (PRC) but also an Indian passport in exchange of large sum of money.

In 2008, Opposition Leader Ratan Lal Nath alleged that Mamun is an agent of the Bangladeshi intelligence Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) and with his help, the Left had transited money to militants for wining the last Assembly Election early this year.

Sahid Chowdhury not only generates incomes for cash strapped CPI-M but ensures victory of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar from Dhanpur - which falls in the same Sonamura subdivision as his own constituency Boxanagar - by campaigning among the Muslim voters.

TIWN calls for NIA investigation into Minister Sahid Chowdhury’s links with various Terror outfits, for harbouring Mamun Mia type HUJI terrorists, for arranging Indian Passports to all illegal documents for Terror outfir members so that narcotics smugglings continue unabated in Tripura.
