AGARTALA, Sep 8 (TIWN): "Crime against women is a curse, but only court and police can't reduce it. It should be sorted out with discussions and by spreading awareness to stop such crimes....", that is what Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said on World Literacy Day-2017. This remark was made by the CM almost at the ending of his speech after he gave one hour long lecture about the 'Highest Literacy' rate of his state. But is this way a Home Minister should address when question comes about women's safety ? Is this the process that Women Commission of Tripura and Home Ministry are trying to protect women here ?
Tripura Home Ministry just has remained for the namesake under Manik Sarkar as already Tripura has topped in Northeast for crime against women.
"We have made many impossible things as possible in Tripura. But till day we are suffering from crime against women but that can not be tolerated", said CM.
"Against such crimes everybody should stand firmly..... Aware the public, discuss the issue. How can Court and Police reduce crimes ?", said Manik Sarkar.
"From the childhood we should aware our children what is good and what is bad. Teach your son to respect his sister and then only he will respect girls. That is how crime can be reduced", said Sarkar.
"If in blood donation campaig.Tripura can become top, why not in crime deduction ?", CM added.
CM was addressing on World Literacy Day-2017 in Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan stressing on the issues of various developments done by Tripura Govt. However, CM didn't miss the opportunity to hit RSS, BJP indirectly accusing them for murdering Gouri Lankesh..... "That was a revenge against her free voice", said CM.
In girl education, CM claims 'Tripura stands in a very good position and the gap among boys and girls ratio is only 8 % here'. The Chief Minister also claimed that if mother is educated then there are more chances of girl-education.
"We have to stand together to voice against crime against women. Police, Court are not the way for that", Sarkar added.
