AGARTALA, Aug 28 (TIWN): When children are taught about freedom fighters’ dedications on each Independence Days, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said, “Independence Day is itself a Political Day”.

From Netaji Subash Chandra Bose to Bhagat Singh and lakhs of freedom fighters dedicated their lives for country’s freedom and the Communist Chief Minister has finally shown his colour by claiming the Independence Day as nothing but merely a ‘Political Day’.

Sarkar said this after criticism erupted with his Independence Day speech. In his Independence Day speech rather than freedom movement and his future planning for the state, he ended with an Anti-BJP speech (both on Aug 12 recorded speech and on 15th Aug).

"I-Day itself is a political day and I spoke on politics but not for election propaganda", Sarkar added.

“I am a Political Activist and being a political activist on that day my speech should be political”, said CM.

“Being a political worker, how my speech will be out of politics?”, said Sarkar.
