TIWN Aug 2, 2017
AGARTALA, Aug 2 (TIWN): Volte faced CPI-M Govt's cold response to SSA teachers hunger strike since two days, in a move for solution the SSA teachers have written letters to the Prime Minister asking central govt's intervention to the complex SSA teachers' issue of Tripura about regularization. In the meanwhile, the SSA teachers also sent a letter to the Governor of Tripura Tathagata Roy depicting about the deprivation done by the state govt. In the letter the SSA teachers informed the Prime Minister as well as MHRD and Governor about the hunger strike conducting by them. In the letter the agitators said, "We have been sitting in Hunger Strike till death at Orient Chowmuhani from Aug-1st, 2017 for regularization of SSA teaching and non-teaching staffs. On last 25 July we have met with the state Project Director, Tripura Rajya Mission to place our charter demands with proper documents in favour of regularization. But the Dept doesn't take any proper decision in favour of our regularization demand. That is why we are compelled to sit in hunger strike till death at Orient Chowmuhani, Agartala".
What scams may be disclosed with the centre's intervention :
1. Tripura Govt had regularized the teachers long back in 2010-11 and regularly has been receiving funds from centre, but the state govt has kept the matter hidden inside the state. This financial scam to be disclosed if the MHRD looks into the matter closely,
2. MHRD earlier made it clear that Tripura Govt told the Central Govt that 'both regular, contractual teachers are working in SSA-Tripura'. But with the fresh knowledge that SSA teachers are in hunger strike demanding regularization may turn heavy upon the state govt and order may also come to give the unpaid salaries to the SSA regular teachers,
3. The SSA teachers wanted to complete their B.Ed degrees and also applications were submitted in this regard. As per MHRD, it's rule that state govt must give chance to the teachers to complete B.Ed if teachers want. Here, Tripura Govt violated the MHRD guidelines by not giving them chance to complete B.Ed.
4. As per the MHRD guidelines, it has been said, "The States should maintain unified teaching cadres and no separate teaching cadre is permissible as all teachers are ultimately to be borne on the States and UTs". ( Annexure-1, of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) change-in certain SSA norms of 2014, Jan 1).
However presently 44 teachers are in "Hunger Strike till Death", whereas no Govt official from Tripura bothered to meet them.
