Agartala, Oct 7 (TIWN) To further boost the trade ties between Bangladesh and northeast India, a week-long trade exhibition-cum-sale begun here Monday.
“The Tripura government has decided to provide a permanent business place for Bangladeshi traders in Agartala,” Mahbub Islam Runu told reporters after the inauguration of the ‘Bangladesh Expo – 2013’ at Mukut Bipani Bitan at Lichu Bagan adjoining the civil secretariat (capital) complex.
The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) in association with Tripura’s Industry and Commerce Department is organising the ‘Bangladesh Expo 2013’ that would continue till October 12.
Agartala Municipal Council chairman Dr Prafullajit Sinha inaugurated the trade expo.
“This trade expo would have a strong bondage in trade and economic relations and friendship between the two countries specially with the northeastern region,” he said adding that in future the trade between the northeastern region and Bangladesh would further increase narrowing down the trade gap between the two neighbours.
A delegation of FBCCI led by senior vice-president Abul Kashem Ahmed and secretary general Mir Shahabuddin Mohammad came here on the occasion and would hold talks with the ministers and officials of the Tripura government.
