AGARTALA, July 7 (TIWN): 'Netaji Subash Bridge' standing on Tripura's largest river Gomati left in pitiable shape as before 49 years after the bridge was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Sachindra Lal Singha had been never recovered properly till day.
The bridge is also a part of National Highway Connecting Udaipur City with Agartala and other subdivisions, needs to be reconstructed right now to avoid untoward incidents.
The bridge was inaugurated on October 27, 1968 but after 49 years the old pillars yet not changed, neither PWD has taken any initiative for an alternative route for the way.
Local people alleged that they had raised the demand of reconstruction of the bridge manytimes, but eventhough it's adjoined by Tripura Minister Ratan Bhowmik and MLA Madhab Saha's home but the issue was never noticed seriously.
To avoid worst consequences and life losses, the reconstruction work needs on urgent basis as heavy traffic jam remain on the road from morning 9 AM to night 9 PM on that National Highway .
