CPI-M agitates over IPFT called strike

AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): Amid the allegation of CPI-M has instigated IPFT strike with IPFT leader NC Debbarma's help, CPI-M on Thursday 5 PM organized a protest rally claiming IPFT's demand of a separate land is fully Anti-Democratic.

In this regard a rally was organized from Rabindra Bhawan premise & the agitators walked across the City.

Apart from CPI-M, Congress, BJP and TMC also opposed IPFT strike. However, the opposing were via press conferences, whereas TMC demanded an 'All Party Meeting' to discuss the issue.

State Govt is maintaining fully silence over the issue, whereas ruling CPI-M has directly accused strongest opposition BJP behind this strike on National Highway & Railway.  

The tribal-based party Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), which has been agitating for the creation of a separate state, announced that it would block National Highway-8 and the rail tracks for an indefinite period from July 10.

The IPFT for the past few years has been agitating for the creation of a separate state, carved out by upgrading the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) area. The TTAADC was formed in 1987 under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution to protect and safeguard the political, economic and cultural interests of the tribals.
