AGARTALA, June 30 (TIWN): Just after CBI interrogation Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Bijita Nathhas come up heavily on media blaming that media needs a model for its business and after the CBI notice issued to her media has made her a model for publishing breaking stories . Bijita Nath's approach is seen as an arrogant attempt to put pressure on the 4th pillar democracy . It is not a unfamiliar matter with CPI-M to attack media whenever any truth damaging the party image is published in print or electronic media .

Recent ban on one of the most popular media of Tripura namely Pratibadi Kalam once again shows the Communists' tradition of suppressing truths being published publically .

And in a round about way Bijita Nath also follows the party line by criticizing media soon after CBI interrogated her.

TIWN sources in the state Secretariat revealed that CBI team comprised with  Inspector Bratin Ghoshal, who is the investigating officer(IO) in the Rose Valley Chit Fund related cases especially in the said case lodged against Gautam Kundu,Chairman of Rose Valley, arrived State Secretariat at around 10am.

Bratin Goshal is also the Supervising officer in this case andhe was accompanied by another top level  officer  Addl SP Saibal Kumar Tripathi  . They entered the minister’s chamber while two other officers in the team remained outside. At the time of interrogation there were two witnesses namely  Tripura police officer Mukta Ghosh and the Manager of State Bank of India's  Kunjaban branch. The interrogation began at 10.10am and continued for more than one hour , said TIWN sources in the state Secretariat .

Meanwhile , suspense still grips state govt as well as the ruling CPI-M beacuse after the interrogation none of the CBI officers made any statement before the media persons, who were waiting since morning . It is really a matter of curiosity for all that in West Bengal when TMC heavy weight leaders were interrogated CBI used to give hint regarding the ongoing process . But in Bijita Nath iissue CBI remained silent .

It is to be mentioned here that the CBI notice categorically mentioned that CBI tea will interrogate Minister Bijita Nath in her official residence located at Agartala . Accordingly , media persons were waiting in front of her residence since morning . At the eleventh hour it came to know that Bijita Nath was in her Chamber at the State Secretariat as she left her residence at around 7.30 in the morning .

A highly placed official in the State Secretariat told this correspondent on Thursday night ,"  As instructed by the Chief Minister and top CPI-M leaders Bijita Nath went to the state Secretariat early in the morning . There at least five top level officials briefed her how to deal with the CBI team " It is to be mentioned here that from the change of location of interrogation it becomes clear that the state govt and CPI-M party were worried and wanted Bijita Nath to be trained by some masters .

However, it is learnt that Bijita Nath cooperated with the CBI officials during the interrogation . But the interesting fact is that this so-called cooperation with the CBI has created more suspense as some officials , a few businessmen , one or two journos and even a minister are now suspected to be under the scanner of CBI as hundreds and thousands of money were looted by Rose Valley and other Chit Fund companies like I-Core, Sharadha etc. And after CBI begins its probe in Tripura many suspect that in the coming days big fishes will be caught under CBI net.

Late at Thursday night it came to know from a highly placed sources closed to Melarmath that on Sunday Bijita Nath has been asked to remain present in the party headquarters to brief the party top leaders like Chief Minister Manik Sarkar , CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar about Thursday's interrogation. The sources further revealed that party is still worried whether there will be similar fate for Bijita Nath likes of Tapas Pal and Sudip Bandopadhyay .

The Trinamool Congress, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party separately charged the Left Front government with promoting illegal chit fund organisations and unauthorised Non-Banking Financial Organizations(NBFCs) in Tripura.

The Tripura government, which enacted a law in 2000 to deal with the illegal NBFCs and chit fund organizations, since 2016 began confiscating all movable and immovable properties of the Rose Valley chit fund organization in the state.

The chit fund organisation is now under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI, and its sole proprietor and Chairman Gautam Kundu was arrested in Kolkata in 2015.

The Tripura High Court had in 2015 asked the state government to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe unlawful NBFCs and chit fund organizations.

The Tripura government last week appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police Uttam Majumder to head the SIT replacing Inspector General of Police (law and order) KV Sreejesh.
