AGARTALA, June 20 (TIWN): Leader of National Commission for Women Sushma Sahu in her one day visit in Tripura has ranked the state as 1st among Northeast in rape cases. Addressing a press conference, Sushma Sahu at Gitanjali Guest House said, "I am shocked to see the data I received from Tripura in crime against women". Targeting media politics Sahu said that the way the crime is happening in state, at the national level the whole issue has remained hidden. "From outside, state Tripura is still believed as a peaceful state and no media highlights the issues seriously in National TV channels", said Sahu. Sahu who was in blasting mood after meeting various victim families whose daughter were killed and few household tortures, had called the DGP A K Sulka and blasted him especially regarding Anuara murder case. Anuara's father who was crying in a corner Sushma Sahu asked media, 'Don't you feel strange how victims are sidelined to get justice'. Many victims met Sushma on that day and described the issues. The leader also visited many victims houses including Dharmanagar's 16 years Bina, Sonamura Kukichara's gang rape incident and more 9 cases she inspected.Sahu further warned the State Govt that within one month she is coming back in state.'Rape has become a business in Tripura and Tripura Govt has taken responsibilities to save the rapists', Sahu added.
However, answering media query whether it is an official visit or BJP visit, she said, 'Of course it is an official visit and my next visit will be soon', even though during the press conference Sahu was accompanied by Kalyani Roy, a woman BJP leader in Tripura.
