AGARTALA, July 28 (TIWN): While flagging off Diarrhoea prevention fortnight here today, the maiden program launched by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harshavardhan, Commissioner of Health, Tripura M Nagaraju contemplated for intensive use of ORS and Zinc combination among the children if fall seek with stomach complain. Nagaraju stated that about one million of children died every year due to Diarrhoea, the second biggest killer of children age below 5 –yrs in India but it could be prevented fully to make the mothers aware about the procedure of prevention. He however, pointed out that the new program is targeted for mother and village women who are most vulnerable to the killer diseases and it is implemented by mobilizing ASHA and Anganwadi workers.
Nagaraju was addressing the formal lunching of Diarrhoea prevention program in east Dukli Anganwadi centre of Agartala as part of the nation program, which will be continued till August 8 and afterwards the campaign to prevent Diarrhoea to be carried out all the rural pockets. Besides, Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Dr Sandeep N Mahatme and Chief Medical Officer (CMO), West Tripura district Dr Sanjit Deb were also spoke in the occasion to motivate the stakeholders to be careful and sensitive to deal the case of children.
They also advised to continue administering ORS and Zinc combine till bring the ailing child to hospital. A quiz competition was also organized and prizes were distributed to motivate the participants. Meanwhile, diarrhea can cause dehydration, which means the body lacks enough fluid to function properly. Dehydration is particularly dangerous in children and older people, and it must be treated promptly to avoid serious health problems.
