AGARTALA, June 15 (TIWN): Whereas at West Bengal with a fresh trouble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool party received a show-cause notice on May-18 but in Tripura income tax dept is playing just a silent role and yet inactive for taking any action against any tax scampers. Whereas the Finance Dept of Govt of India has declared that 2016, 31st Sept is the last date of disclosing the property and income if s/he doesn’t want any further trouble as court cases but with the departure of Central Tax Officials, Tripura IT Office under JCIT Syamal Dutta has remained just as puppet in the hands of Tax-salvos. His role is under scanner as in 2016, Sept 15 the number of Tax payers in Tripura were only 43,000 out of its 36 lakhs population and maximum of them were Govt employees, but surprisingly Tripura’s image has remained cleaned instead of earlier during Guwahati income tax controlled offices Ministers like Bijita Nath, Naresh Jamatia were show-caused. Those Ministers had to visit Guwahati and submit fresh reports.

Syamal Dutta’s role earlier also came under under scanner when he reacted badly after media published Anti-state-Govt news on income tax.

The issue has come out once again almost after 9 months of the building of IT at Agartala’s inauguration as West Bengal ruling party was noticed by its state income tax dept. Either in CBI investigation or in Tax clearance, Tripura’s image has been saved amidst exclusive corruption episodes discloser.

In a fresh trouble for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Income Tax department has issued a show-cause notice to her Trinamool Congress party. The notice was issued in connection with alleged irregularities in its audit reports regarding expenses during the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, according to Indian Express report. This comes after prominent leaders of the ruling party in West Bengal have been questioned or arrested in connection with alleged multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, Narada sting case and Rose Valley Chit Fund scam. According to IE report, the notice was sent in April and it’s regarding “party’s expenditure in the run-up to the 2014 elections in the Punjab and Haryana chapter of the party.”

However in mean time it has been alleged that CPI-M invests 2 crores per booths. In this connection Officers of IT (Income Tax) in Tripura are playing a silent role and left the building of IT just for namesake with Central funds.

It was Syamal Dutta himself who mentioned clearly on Sept-15, 2016 “When only few days are left for income tax discloser, Tripura’s response is very good as many lawyers are coming in our office where they without writing the person’s name, showing the format to us asking whether it’s correct or not”.

In 2015-16 FY the Revenue income from Tripura was Rs. 104 crores”.

After the press meet L C Joshi Ranee sat for a personal interview with TIWN correspondent, where he mentioned how revenue generates income & how it develops the society. He also mentioned presently in India big Cities’ Taxes are using to upgrade states like Tripura & other NE states.

“After getting the revenue Govt. prepares for the next budget & that’s how it’s work”, he told TIWN.

Asking him about whether multiple accounts in multiple banks are illegal, he said, “Ofcourse not, but you just have to clarify your selling, buying of property & which are yet not recorded”.

TIWN also asked him, whether Income Tax Dept. has any connection with Tripura Govt. he said, “When you are working in a state, it obviously makes a connection, but we are independent organization working under Central Finance Dept”.

However, the Income-Tax has been controversial in state Tripura, as allegation frequently raised against Tripura’s many big shots including Ministers, former Police Head K Nagraj and many IAS-IPS officers.
