AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): Supreme Court will hear the Special Leave Petition (SLP) on August 4th next filed by Tripura challenging the verdict of the High Court of Tripura which cancelled the recruitment process of 10,323 Graduate, Under-Graduate and Post Graduate Teachers, said sources. On June 10 last, a delegation of Advocate General Bijan Das, Law Secretary Datamohan Jamatia and others filed the Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court over High Court of Tripura’s verdict on teachers’ recruitment .The petition was filed before a Division Bench of the Supreme Court.

Incidentally, the recruitment process of 10,323 Graduate, Under Graduate and Post Graduate Teachers inducted since 2010 was cancelled by a Division Bench of the High Court of Tripura. The Division comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice SC Das further instructed the state government to complete a fresh recruitment process within December 2014 which would enable new teachers to replace the old ones who would be retiring from the controversial service by December 31, 2014.

The state government was also asked to readjust its current new employment policy within a period of two months based upon a set of parameters laid out by the High Court. The High Court passed the order on a series of petitions filed by 58 petitioners who alleged faults in the recruitment process for being denied service in the concerned posts. A total of 1100 teachers were recruited in the posts of PGT, 4617 were recruited in the posts of Graduate Teachers (GT), and 4606 were recruited in the posts of Under Graduate Teachers (UGT) since 2010.
